I’m so glad you’re here!

Hi! I’m Renee. I have a passion for food and local agriculture and am happy to share both with you. My story begins in college. I struggled for years to have a healthy relationship with food. I simply became exhausted with the way I was living and treating my body. A couple of pivotal moments and a lot of reading and learning later, I found my passion for food.

I began seeking out local and organic produce for myself. This was over fifteen years ago, in a time when farms selling direct-to-consumer weren’t readily available and organic wasn’t yet a buzz word. After a lot of due diligence, I found a handful of local farmers around town and started building relationships; some of which still remain today.

This is what a basket looked like. I worked a lot with a farm named King Family Farm that is no longer in operation.

From that time, A Simpler Place has evolved over the past twelve years; from starting our own CSA farm, producers-only farmers market, on-farm store and kitchen, to hosting on-farm field trips and events. We’ve had the honor of winning awards and grants for our work. Those were magical and memorable years on the farm that I will cherish forever.

Throughout those years, I’ve had two babies and found my passion for sharing food with them. They’re a big part of my “why”. I hope to leave them with a positive relationship with food; one that excites them to cook. If possible, for them to know the story behind their food and to always appreciate what it took to get it to their plate.

Today, A Simpler Place Farm & Market holds true to what inspired its inception; a desire to share good food, especially locally grown, and the stories behind it.
